Sita and I decided to get in touch to assure you know that Gurkha Cleaning and Laundry Service Limited together with our sister company sanitisemyspace.co.uk are doing everything we can to keep our clients and our staff safe including the regular testing of all staff for COVID-19. As this current situation is unprecedented and as our business is visiting clients homes and work places frequently, we are taking this very seriously. We are looking after and supporting our staff members to keep them and their families healthy. This includes reinforcing our stringent hygiene and handwashing procedures, and ensuring they receive the Governments Statutory Sick Pay if they are feeling unwell and wish to self-isolate. We would also like to point out that due to the nature of our employment some staff do not qualify for SSP due to their hours. In these situations, Sita and myself will commit to pay them the equivalent.
We have changed our laundry detergents to a more powerful one which is proven to kill germs and bacteria. We also have further stronger detergents we can use if you think the laundry has been in actual contact with Covid-19, please inform us if this is the case.
Our domestic and commercial cleaning staff are now using stronger detergents and chemicals, which we understand are fully capable to clean and protect against the germs that we are being subject to.
Ultimately, these are YOUR AREAS and we will adhere to any guidelines that you request.

Currently the UK Government guidelines on this matter are being updated daily and we are closely monitoring that advice. We are making sure that the hygiene and safety policies of The Department of Social Care (DHSC) and Public Health England (PHE) are being adhered to.
We are constantly re-evaluating our infection control risk assessment to ensure that we continue to follow all relevant recommendations. We understand that we have a duty of care to our staff and our clients to ensure that their health and wellbeing is not unduly at risk. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our clients is a priority which is highlighted in our Health and Safety Policy document.
To protect our staff we request to our customers that if they feel that there is a reasonable risk that any member of their household or their business who may have been in contact with virus then they must notify us at their earliest opportunity.
Our PPE materials and equipment such as gloves, masks, over shoes and most importantly cleaning cloths are never used in more than one property. Once a clean is completed all these items are put into a bag and brought back to our laundry to either be disposed of or thoroughly laundered. This is not a new policy; it has always been our standard operating procedure.
